5 Tips for a Successful dbt Project
Jan 05, 2022A fun part about dbt is how quickly you can get started.
But oftentimes moving fast results in subtle bad habits or, worse, compounding mistakes.
So today, I want to share with you 5 tips I've found that can help you build a successful dbt project:.
- Create a Staging Layer
- Use CTEs (Common Table Expressions)
- Use Directories
- Create a Style Guide
- Don't Optimize for Fewer Lines
These might seem overly-obvious, yet many teams miss some (or all) of these completely.
Rather than talk more about them in text, I think it's more helpful to discuss in video form.
I've put together a short video talking about each of these 5 tips and why you should care about them.
Enjoy.
